Waiting on His Presence
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” -Psalm 46:10
A mentor of mine who is also a counselor was sitting listening to some issues my husband and I were facing. He had a lot of great suggestions, but one in particular stood out to me.
“Every morning when you wake up, don’t do anything until you sit and feel God’s presence. It’s the most important thing you can do!” he said.
He wasn’t meaning to avoid making at pitstop at the restroom or getting coffee, but before getting into any activity, to sit and wait quietly before the Lord. I’ve found that when I do this, it makes such a big difference in my day, and helps me to focus on what’s important.
Moses knew the importance of waiting on God. As he was talking with God about leading the people of Israel from Mount Sinai into the Promised Land, God promised Moses, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
Moses said to God, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.” Exodus 33:15 & 16
Are you waiting on God’s presence? Make it a practice to wait up the Lord each morning, and let His presence go before you each and every day.
